Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire. -W.B. Yeats

Wilder’s Preparatory Academy Charter School is dedicated to developing life-long learners; providing excellence in education for all students; and promoting the growth and development of productive citizens toward building and sustaining a humane, just, and global society. Our academic focus embraces a rigorous research-based college preparatory curriculum that supports effective teaching by the faculty and promotes strong economic, intellectual and pragmatic leadership in our students.

My philosophy is to strive to be Inspiring, Empowering, Relevant, and Engaging. I have a strong sense of responsibility and accountability for developing an outstanding school that will in turn ultimately CHANGE the world.

I would like to share four of my favorite books: FISH! Sticks, FISH! Tales, FISH! For Life and Schools of FISH. Some of you may have heard of the FISH philosophy (Be There, Play, Make Their Day, Choose Your Attitude) and some of you may have not. I really love these books that Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, and John Christensen wrote to inspire people to change their work environments for the better. Christensen states that we should not be afraid to use words like ‘love’ and ‘soul’ and ‘spirit’, because those words are an essential part of our humanity and every organization needs people who are passionate, committed and free to live the organization's vision through their personal values. John Christensen words ring out loud and clear in what we all stand for as educators and parents. We have to work together as a team to educate every child at the highest level possible to ensure that they are productive citizens ready to conquer the world.

The Fish philosophy presents a learning environment design that we all need to follow at school, at work, and at home. Live your life full of motivation, creativity and innovation, everyday is a day to learn something new or change something you did not like. John Christensen’s philosophy states, “The secret to outstanding leadership is not in what you convince others to do for you, but what you inspire them to do through your example.” Let our collaboration inspire the students to increase their work ethic at school and at home in completing homework and projects in order to reach advance or proficient on the California State Test (CST).
